Argentine wine trip - day one: Bummer!

Hello. I’m writing from the Santiago airport where I am enduring an eight hour layover. Our Miami-Santiago flight was late and we missed our cross Andes flight by ten minutes!

One of my new wine pals, Paul from Top Ten Wines in Columbia Mo and I paid the day fee to enter an airport lounge, so I was able to shower, freshen up and log on to wifi. There’s the usual stuff down here - pastries, wine and beer, CNN and magazines.

So, instead of having a free day to explore Mendoza, I’m exploring an airport lounge. Why didn’t we go into Santiago to see the sites? Well, Chilean customs charges $25 to leave the airport and $100 to enter. We decided that spending over $1000 collectively to visit a city for a few hours was a wee bit too much….
