About Unti Vineyards We're big fans of Mick and his wines here at Farmstead, and have featured several of them as Wine Club selections.  His wines are food friendly, full of flavor and reflect the terroir of the Dry Creek Valley. Unti is a small, no-frills, family-owned and operated winery specializing in red varietal wines with vineyard personality. George and his son Mick believe Dry Creek Valley's climate is ideal for making full-bodied, fruity reds from Zinfandel, Rhone and Italian varietals. In 2004 they began using biodynamic vineyard practices designed to make the vines more self-sustaining and adaptive to their natural environment. The winery, established in 1997, produces small lots of estate grown Zinfandel, Syrah, Grenache, Barbera, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah and a Dry Rosé. Their winemaking includes artisan methods which enhance and support their ability to make wines with a sense of place. Almost all of their wines (and their opinions) are unfiltered.

About Franklin Square Wine Bar One of the newest nightspots in Oakland's downtown revival, the Franklin Square Wine Bar opened to rave reviews in November.  Brought to you by the team behind Luka's Tap Room (across the street), their approach at Franklin Square can best be described as California Cuisine with a French flair.  Chef Jacob Alioto is a fabulous chef (and a regular Farmstead customer) who oversees the cooking at both Franklin Square and Luka's.  He's worked at many Bay Area restaurants, including Lalime's, Dry Creek Kitchen and Applewood . His skills and artistry have been lauded in the SF Chronicle, SF Magazine,  the Contra Costa Times and on all of the foodie boards.
