About Melville and Samsara Estate driven, Melville
makes Burgundy and Northern Rhone style wines. Located in the heart of
Santa Rita Hills, in Santa Barbara County wine country, the estate has
85 acres planted to vineyards.Winemaker Greg Brewer makes Pinot Noir,
Syrah, Chardonnay, and Viognier.
Samsara
is the limited production, personal project of Chad Melville that
focuses on single vineyard Syrahs and Pinot Noirs from the Santa Rita
Hills AVA. The wine is made in the vineyard, so to speak, and there is
little handling or manipulation once the fruit reaches the winery.
Melville likes the spiciness that whole-cluster fermentation gives.
About Wood Tavern
Wood Tavern opened a few years ago to universal raves (Michael Bauer of
the SF Chronicle called it "a destination for discriminating diners
everywhere."). It is owned and operated by Rebekah and Rich Wood, who
built their early success in the San Francisco restaurant scene in
pivotal roles at Rubicon, Farallon, Harry Denton's & Scala's Bistro. After 6 years of owning the successful & charming Russian Hill restaurant, Frascati,
Rich and Rebekah decided to open a new restaurant in a neighborhood
closer to their home in Oakland. After months of searching, they found
the perfect spot on College Ave. at the edge of Oakland's Rockridge
district. Wood Tavern embodies the essence of their
personalities and provides guests with a sense of comfort unique to the area.
The
Wood Tavern was named an SF Chronicle Top 100 restaurant in 2007-08,
and is one on the toughest reservations in town. This is the fourth
Farmstead/Wood Tavern wine dinner.
This
event is limited to only 30 people and it will sell out quickly!
