Pinot Noir Wine Club

February Pinot Wine Club

In December, Classic club members were all clamoring for more of this winery's entry level pinot (Owen Roe Sharecropper's).  We saved the hard to find stuff for you guys.  Owen Roe Kilmore Pinot Noir
This 11 barrel bottling is mostly Pommard clone Pinot Noir, evenly split between the  Cummins Ridge and Kalita Vineyard, both located in the Yamhill/Carlton District, where old ocean bottom Willakenzie soil shapes the wines.

This wine is rich and full bodied with intense black fruit and dark coffee flavors.  A plush  texture,  with just a hint of barrel toast rounds out the flavors, and the finish is marked by even more mounds of fruit flavors. The balance in this wine is impressive, with fresh, lively flavors with perfectly integrated acidity matched to tannins that promise cellaring but never intrude. The long finish of red raspberry, red cherry, and spice refreshes and suggests this wine will go well with a wide range of foods.

Flamboyant and showy, this wine is all about the fruit, and while it's still young it is already delicious.

This cuvée is named for the old abbey on the O'Reilly clan's land in Ireland on Trinity Island. The label is a handpulled etching of a photo of one of the Romanesque arches in the ruins of the Abbey.  Very, very limited.
