Think Pink!!
These are exciting times at Farmstead, as many of our pre-orders of French rosé wine have arrived.

This includes Carol's mostest favoritest rosé in the whole wide world* - Mordorée Tavel Rosé La Dame Rousse ($27), an organic blend of Grenache (60%), Syran, Cinsault and Clairette made by Christophe Delorme, one of the finest winemakers anywhere**.

Delorme's brother Fabrice stopped by the other day and poured us a sample of the wine.  Lynette was impressed by the rich glycerine mouthfeel, while I loved how concentrated and full the wine seemed to be- if your eyes were closed you'd swear it was a red wine.

We have a limited amount of the wine in stock - in fact it might not even be on the shelves as you read this.

Ask for a bottle and tell them Carol sent you.

We'll be rolling out other French rosés as the weather warms up. We order limited amounts of each wine and like to keep it interesting for the summer, so the wines will have limited availability. So if you like a certain rosé, buy more than a bottle, as it will not be around forever.

We have a great selection of rosés on hand at present:

  • Rosés of Pinot Noir
    • Sinskey Vin Gris (Organic, limited)
    • Copain Printemps (Organic)
    • A-Z (from Oregon)
    • Wolf (German from Dr. Loosen, Organic - off dry, limited)
    • Lazy Creek (Sustainable, Anderson Valley, limited)
  • Rosés from Rhone varietals
    • Wolf Trap (South African, from master winemaker Marc Kent)
    • René Clement (Cotes du Rhone)
    • Domaine de Nizas (Languedoc, Syrah/Grenache)
    • St Martin de Garrigue (Languedoc, from Kermit Lynch)
    •
  • Rose from the Cabernet family
    • Ch La Gatte (from Bordeaux, mostly Merlot)

*We always have this wine on stock at home.

**Robert Parker on Delorme:  Christophe Delorme's objective as a winemaker is to be unintrusive and maintain total respect for his terroir and the fruit it produces. His dream is to achieve a perfect balance between concentration, terroir and flavors.  He represents the best of an enlightened approach to winemaking that has one foot in the traditions of the past and one in the future."

Lingot de Quercy

Our resident Cheesemeisters Craig and Eric think that many of our Rosés would pair wonderfully with the recently arrived Lingot de Quercy, a creamy, velvety  goat cheese from the Dordogne that is fruity, floral and slightly tart.

Burrata's In!!  Our weekly shipment of Burrata and Bufala Mozzarella have arrived.  And nothing screams May, spring, and freshness more than our fresh cheeses - namely Burrata and Bufala Mozzarella.

That's right, our weekly supply of Burrata and Bufala has arrived!  These fabulous balls of milky, creamy goodness are amazing - by themselves, as part of a cheese plate, on a pizza, whatever.

Because of the fragile nature of these ultra fresh cheeses, we only order enough to last through the weekend (Burrata has a 7 day shelf life, while Bufala lasts for up to two weeks).

So don't be disappointed, come in soon to pick yours up!

New Kid.  Please welcome Tom to the Farmstead family.  Tom has an extensive wine background and has worked at wine stores and for a small distribution company.  When he's not at Farmstead, he's practicing Yoga, reading or waiting for the ski season to start.  Tom will be with us at both shops on the weekends.
Montclair store progress. We're on track to open in about a week (eep!!).  The refrigeration is installed, they're finishing the cabinetry, and we'll have final inspections next week.

Then comes the fun part - stocking the store, setting up the computers and scales - getting ready for your and your Montclair friends.  The address is 6218 La Salle, three doors up from Mountain, right across the street from the City parking lot.
